Blogtober #3 – Off the grid!

I was recently made aware of a free journalling class when @barefootcrafter mentioned that she was taking part. I was very quick to jump on that bandwagon as soon as I saw the class. It looks fantastic! The class is by @kelleewynnestudios on her Color Crush Creative website. The course is the Grid Journal Mini Course.

I made myself a watercolour booklet some time ago and have used it for a couple of things so far but not much. It is the perfect journal for this course. It’s a simple book with several sleeves of heavy watercolour paper and hard cardboard covers that I have covered with a couple of old artworks. I made them when playing with paints and I like to keep them to cut up and use for bits and pieces.

To start the grid journalling you need to make a grid, of course. Kelly uses two-inch squares for her first class and I thought I would follow suit. I’m not very creative and like to be guided, at least to get started. The class really got me scrambling for collage pieces as I don’t have too many of those. I know I have thrown lots away when cleaning up, thinking I’ll never use those! I’ll be keeping more from now on with, this time, a purpose for them. I’ve only done the first class and I am very impressed and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I made this grid over several days while I got my supplies sorted. It’s not fantastic but it’s somewhere to start. I’m looking forward to the next class and will watch it before actually attempting anything. That way I know what I need to get together.

I’ll keep you posted on where I go next! See you again tomorrow. 😊
