Blogtober #12 & #13 – Busy busy!

Yes, I missed yesterday but I didn’t forget. I’ve just been flat out with appointments and other commitments and I realised last night that I really had nothing to share with you. One good thing yesterday was a visit to Spotlight for something I needed and I ended up with these linen fabrics. They are crinkled up because I have washed them ready to cut into. I just now have to wait over a week before I’ll be able to.

Back in July, I made a whole heap of little totes with zippers for all my friends attending our annual retreat. I made 18 of them actually! While I was cutting them out, I cut an extra three for gifts for some old school friends. I’m meeting up with these friends on Sunday this weekend and yesterday I finally started sewing them. I’m happy to say that I finished them today. I suppose after making that many of them it made it very easy to get them done.

I used some lovely Japanese linen fabric for the outside and some fat quarters from stash for the linings. The zippers I used were from Voodoo Rabbit using zipper pulls I had leftover from previous projects. I used a YouTube video for these bags, one by Tendersmile Handmade. There are so many bags, purses and totes to make from the videos there. I think this was the first thing I’ve made from her videos but there are a couple of other YouTubers that I’ve followed also. There is no audio on these videos, apart from some music but they are very easy to follow, with measurements on the screen so that you know what pieces you need to cut out.

Tomorrow is cake-making day for me. I’ll be making a Rainbow Unicorn cake for little miss-turning-four-tomorrow. The party is on Saturday and the cake will be white chocolate mud cake so will be great for making a day ahead. I’ll be able to show you how that goes. Thanks for dropping by today!
